From Great Danger to a Haven of Hope

“The Salvation Army really cares about people. They want to know your needs and how they can help.”

My name is Zilpha.

Not long ago, I was living in a dangerous situation. I don’t want to get into details, but I had to get out of there, and right away.

I was hungry, homeless, and had no place to go. So I did the first thing that came to my mind: Go to The Salvation Army. They’ll help.

By the time I arrived, they had closed for the night. So I slept in my car, right outside the building . . . waiting for help to come.

The next morning, I met with a staff person and told her my story. She listened with grace and compassion. She set me up with some temporary housing in the community and helped me get my disability benefits. The Salvation Army also brought me food while I was trying to get back on my feet.

The Salvation Army really cares about people. They want to know your needs and how they can help.

Thanks to them, I now have my own apartment, and I’m helping others in the community. I even volunteer at The Salvation Army!

Your support makes stories like this possible. Thank you so much!
