The Salvation Army Opens Emergency Shelter for Displaced Residents of Apt. Complex Fire
Cleveland, OH July 4th, 2023- Tragedy impacted over 100 families and individuals overnight at the Terrace Towers Apartment Complex in Ea s t Cleveland, where a fire erupted The Salvation Army in East Cleveland, in coordination with The America n Red Cross, ha s opened their Corps, located at 1507 Doan Ave as an emergency shelter to house the families and individuals impacted by the fire.
"We are heartbroken for all of these families. Last evening, over 50 families stayed at our Corps feeling anxious and hopeless. The Salvation Army will be working tirelessly with these families and individuals to restore their faith and hope," stated Captain Chaka Watch, Commanding Corps Officer, The Salvation Army in East Cleveland Corps Community Center.
The Salvation Army in East Cleveland is offering families shower facilities, clothing vouchers, daily meals, and coffee. In addition to these services, case managers will be available to help individuals and families identify new support and housing alternatives to begin new journeys. Finally, The Salvation Army will offer spiritual and emotional to help comfort those impacted by the fire.
"Our goal at The Salvation Army is to help uplift any individual or family that enters our doors. We will do this for these residents impacted by the Terrance Towers fires. These residents are our community, and we want to help them get back on their feet.," continued Captain Chaka.
