The Hue Jackson Foundation Survivors of Human Trafficking Residence

Human trafficking, especially amongst children between the ages of 12 and 14, is a growing epidemic in Ohio. In fact, our state ranks 4th in the country in the number of reported human trafficking incidents. The Salvation Army, together with our community partners, and a major gift from the Hue Jackson Foundation, is at the front lines of service to these most vulnerable individuals. On July 17th we opened the Hue Jackson Foundation Survivors of Human Trafficking Residence at our Harbor Light Complex in downtown Cleveland. Survivors will have access to wrap-around social services to address medical concerns and receive addiction support, as well as other spiritual, emotional, and physical needs.

The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland created this residence in collaboration with Hue and Michelle Jackson, co-founders of the Hue Jackson Foundation. The goal is to empower children, teen and adult survivors of human trafficking through the funding of organizations that champion for and serve as a voice for those who are exploited. Together we are impassioned in our positions to advance awareness and provide prevention and healing for victims of this crime, but we need your help.

Wrap-Around Social Services

This residence is approximately 4,500 square feet and provides a safe environment for up to 12 recovered adult survivors of human trafficking. It offers collaborative and holistic services, and provides shared office space for law enforcement, healthcare, and social services providers, to help assist survivors to recovery.

Spiritual & Emotional Support

The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland officers provide spiritual guidance and support that reinforces the recovery and rehabilitation process for human trafficking survivors. Traditional Sunday worship, Gospel meetings, and weekly Bible discussion groups complement the therapeutic environment within the residence.

Physical Rehabilitation

The Harbor Light detoxification program offers exceptional clinical care. The program is certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Upon receiving medically supervised detoxification services at our residence, approximately 75% of the clients move on to the next level of care.

Join Us in Assisting these Victims of Human Trafficking to Become Survivors.

Your support will help individuals like one survivor who came to us after enduring a decade of abuse. She was only 5 years old when she was raped, sold for money, and abused by those who were supposed to love and protect her most- her parents and siblings. At 15 she was finally freed and her entire world changed thanks to The Salvation Army. Help us change the lives of the least, the lost, and the forgotten.
