When Jack left an abusive home, he found safe haven and hope with The Salvation Army.
I grew up in a home that became increasingly chaotic and abusive. Finally, at the age of 17, I just couldn’t take it anymore, so I decided I had to get away.
I Googled “resources for homeless youth,” and one of the results was The Salvation Army. They helped me find housing for teenagers in my situation, and they promised to be with me every step of the way as I continued on this journey.
That was two years ago, and today, at 19, I’m proud to say that I’m thriving. I’ve got a full-time job and I’m saving my money for school. I want to pursue a career in agriculture.
I’ve got a lot of side hobbies too — I like public speaking, writing, and music. I play a few instruments too. The Salvation Army is encouraging me in all of my interests!
Coming to The Salvation Army was the best decision of my life. Without them, I’d be way worse off, probably homeless. They’re a safe place for youth to turn to when they have nowhere else to go.
I’m so thankful to The Salvation Army and supporters like you. Thanks to you, I have high hopes for my future!
