Everyone Deserves a Second Chance
The Salvation Army has four Family Thrift Stores operating in and around Toledo. These centers rely on donations of clothing and household goods from the community, volunteer and employed staff, and the support of the general public. Proceeds from these stores are used to fund social assistance programs in the communities in which they are located. In many cases, funds from these stores provide additional funding for Salvation Army shelter programs or other family assistance. Often they provide additional resources for rehabilitation programs (a large part of rehabilitation services is work therapy). In all cases, 100% of Family Store proceeds help directly where it is needed in the community.
While Salvation Army Family Stores are often seen as a place to find great bargains, it is easy to see that they do much more. Not only do they provide goods at low cost for those that truly need it, they also allow individuals a place to work as they begin to put the pieces of their life back together.
