Anyone with a sincere desire for rehabilitation is welcome.

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in Northwest Ohio provides spiritual, social, and emotional assistance for men who have lost the ability to cope with their problems and provide for themselves.

Adult Rehabilitation Centers are among the most widely known of all Salvation Army services and comprise the largest residential rehabilitation program in the United States. Individuals with identifiable and treatable needs turn to these centers for help when they no longer are able to cope with their problems. As part of the program, these individuals receive meals, shelter and medical care as well as engage in work therapy. Residents may be referred or be remanded by the courts. The Center's holistic approach provides rehabilitation for the mind, body and spirit.

In Northwest Ohio, the ARCs are mainly funded by money raised through our Family Thrift Stores.

Each Adult Rehabilitation Center offers residential housing, work, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean, wholesome environment. The physical and spiritual care program participants receive prepares them to re-enter society and return to gainful employment. Many Adult Rehabilitation Center graduates are reunited with their families and resume a normal life. People who seek our ministry, nurture, and healing come with issues of substance misuse, legal problems, relational conflicts, homelessness, unemployment, and most importantly, a need for spiritual awakening and restoration.

Who Is Eligible?

A comprehensive intake interview is required from every potential program participant to ensure that the individual seeking help and the program are a good match. In the event that the interview process determines that the program is not appropriate, every attempt will be made to make a referral to more appropriate organization.

Although the core program is basically the same, Adult Rehabilitation Center programs may vary somewhat from center to center. Each applicant must come with the recognition of a need that can be addressed within the framework of the entire Adult Rehabilitation Center program. A long term commitment of at least 6 months helps the participants make life choices and changes that, upon reentry, will enable them to maintain themselves as productive citizens of their community.

Applicants with a desire to get help may be referred by families, friends, courts, clergy, and community leaders or simply contact the offices to make an appointment or get more information.
